Since Xizang established its first primary school -- Qamdo Primary School in March 1951, the region's education sector has evolved from scratch to excellence and continues to modernize over the past seven decades. From 2012 to 2022, China invested a total of 251.506 billion yuan (RMB) in education funding for its Xizang Autonomous Region. The region now has 3,409 schools of all types and levels, with over 944,000 students enrolled.
